
After about a year in the position: The Director General of the Ministry of Religious Services, Shimon (Muni) Ma'atuk, is ending his role in managing the ministry.
Ma'atuk informed Deputy Minister Matan Kahane of his desire to terminate his position for personal reasons at the end of July 2022.
Maatuk served in many public positions, including Director of the Senior Division for Human Capital Management in Local Authorities at the Ministry of the Interior, Acting Commissioner of the Southern District at the Ministry, Deputy Director General of the Ministry for Administrative and Human Capital Affairs. He also served as Chairman of the Eastern Galilee Regional Planning and Construction Committee, and as Mayor of Tiberias.
In the past year, he served as Director General of the Ministry of Religious Services.
The outgoing Director General: "In the past year, the Ministry of Religious Services has undergone far-reaching changes and even adapted relevant infrastructure for the long term, all of this alongside promoting significant reforms that have been implemented. I thank Deputy Minister Kahane for the uncompromising push forward, the trust and full support throughout the entire period for me and the entire professional echelon of the ministry.".
Deputy Minister of Religious Services Matan Kahane praised Ma'atuk's work over the past year: "I only met Muni a little over a year ago, and I was privileged to meet a full partner in the journey. Muni is an incomparably hardworking and professional person, and was an integral part of the change in religious services in Israel. I am deeply grateful to Muni for being my right hand throughout the past year, and also a dear friend. The State of Israel and I thank him very much and wish him success in the future.".
