Two days for the Rashbi's holiday in Meron: About twenty rabbis, including members of the Council of Torah Sages, city rabbis, abbots of the courts, and heads of religious schools, are addressing the public in an unusual letter, asking them to follow the instructions of their superiors and not exceed a four-hour stay on the mountain.
A letter issued by the court of the Rabbi of Bnei Brak, the Gaon Rabbi Yehuda Silman, and signed by other rabbis under the title 'Holy Reading', reads: "After the heavy and horrific disaster that befell the Jewish people last year, when 45 worshippers passed away in a terrible decree of God, and in anticipation of the Baal Taw celebration that will begin next week, those responsible gathered to discuss how to prevent such a rush and the fear of personal safety this year, and established a number of rules for this so that not all worshippers would arrive at the same time, and also added many amendments, all for the safety of the worshippers.".
""Certainly, instructions must be obeyed, and those who are accustomed to traveling to Meron on Lag BaOmer will not stay on the mountain for more than four hours, as determined by their superiors, and it is strictly forbidden to engage in confrontations, commotion, and the like, as these acts involve blasphemy and spiritual and physical danger, and so on.".
The rabbis add, addressing the public who wish to participate in the celebration: "Those whose ancestors did not make this journey can prevent themselves from doing so this year, or postpone the trip to other days, and dedicate the holy time of Lag BaOmer to studying the Torah of Rashbi Ziya, and this will be for the upliftment of the souls of the 45 holy worshipers who were killed in the holy place.".
The rabbis conclude their letter with the blessing, "And may all who hear be blessed with all the blessings written in the Torah, with great joy and holiness, and with the expansion of knowledge in the Torah and the Lord. And may we merit good news of the coming of the Messiah soon in our days, O Achish.".
The letter is signed by, in addition to the Rabbi Silman, the Grand Rabbi Shimon Galai, and members of the Council of Torah Scholars - the Gaon Rabbi Shimon of Edni, the Gaon Rabbi Reuven Elbaz, the Gaon Rabbi Moshe Maya, and the Gaon Rabbi David Yosef, alongside the Gaon Rabbi Shlomo Machfod - the Gaon Rabbi Yoreh Deah, the Gaon Rabbi Chaim Zvi Shapira - the Rav of Belza and the Rav of the Ramat Aharon Hasidim, the Gaon Rabbi Yitzhak Ratsavi - the Posk of the Yemenite Adat, the Gaon Rabbi Yaakov Meir Stern - the Domtz of the Hasidim of Vizhnitz, the Gaon Rabbi Shlomo Kanievsky, the son of Maran Sar HaTorah, the Grach zt"l and Rosh Yeshiva of Kiryat Melech, the Gaon Rabbi Baruch Shraga - the Rav of Jerusalem, the Gaon Rabbi Yosef Sheinin - the Rabbi of Ashdod, the Gaon Rabbi Mordechai Malka - the Rabbi of Elad, the Gaon Rabbi Zion Cohen - the Rabbi of Or Yehuda, the Gaon Rabbi Zamir Cohen - the Rosh Yeshiva of Nezer HaTorah And the head of the 'Yiddabrot' organization, the Gaon Rabbi Yehuda Aryeh Halevi Diner - Central Rabbi of Bnei Brak, the Gaon Rabbi Chaim Rabbi - Head of the 'Ateret Chachimim' institutions in Holon and the Posk Gaon Rabbi Amram Fried.
The rabbis' letter joins the call of Marnan and Ravnan and comes against the backdrop of the directive that all immigrants to Meron must purchase a ticket in advance, with the ticket constituting a permit to stay for 4 hours on the mountain.
In the remaining days, additional rabbis and family members of the victims of the disaster who perished are also expected to issue a similar call to all public avenues.
