""I realized that I had painted an entire public in very strong and very dark colors, out of ignorance. I grew up and went through a lot of mental things with myself," he said.

He said: "Ahead of my son Dylan's Bar Mitzvah, most of whose friends had not yet entered the Torah, he consulted with me about what to do. I told him, of course you're entering the Torah, you're Jewish and that's important to me as your father.".

""Avitar Banai was his teacher and they were in a room with all the books and studied. First of all, I really felt a sense of belonging and also a kind of light. From there, it wasn't that I got stronger, I just realized that the whole thing about religion is like a door that you have to open and go through.".

""The polarization today in Israel is a very sad polarization that really hurts me, and I thought I could either serve the people politically, establish a party or join a real and social party that already exists, or contribute with my poetry and my art.".

Gefen also talks about the duet with Hasidic singer Avraham Fried and his disappointment with Haredi radio: "This is not a duet that came out to roll out a move designed to get me more likes, and it's not like I'm now invited to perform in front of a Haredi audience. Absolutely not. I don't have some kind of concert tour here that I'm selling to the Haredi audience, quite the opposite.

""Unfortunately, I am still not heard on Haredi radio stations, and this is perhaps a good opportunity to ask - where is their part in the partnership? Why do the music editors on Haredi radio still refuse to play Aviv Gefen? If there is a dance of love and rapprochement here, then I would expect the same from them.".
