According to a report on the Yeshiva World website, Rabbi Avraham Reich, an expert in genealogy research of Jews from the former Soviet Union, revealed last night on the program "Tokline" with Zeev Brenner that after researching Haliva's background in depth and speaking with his mother - who admitted that she and her mother are Jewish - he came to the conclusion that Elia is Jewish.

Rabbi Reich noted that he also spoke with Haliva's grandmother, who lives in Lebanon.

According to Rabbi Reich, Haliva still needed to undergo a 'serious conversion', despite what his mother and grandmother said, because there are no others or evidence that can confirm this fact. In addition, there were not four consecutive generations in his family who kept Torah and mitzvot.

Rabbi Reich testified that he himself witnessed the process of "conversion to Hasidism" that the groom underwent, and was carried out by rabbis from the leaders of the Hasidic communities in New York.

Rabbi Reich did not want to reveal, for various reasons, which rabbis sat on the court, but said that he himself witnessed the "serious conversion" process and confirmed that Haliva is a strictly kosher Jew. According to reports, important rabbis from Hasidic communities in the United States sat on the court.

It is unknown why Khaliwa did not reveal that his mother and grandmother were Jewish, after the affair broke shortly after his wedding.

According to the report in Yeshiva World, Haliva wants to return to his wife, as in the end his marriage was completely kosher.

However, apparently, some members of the Syrian community in Brooklyn are pressuring him to grant his wife a divorce - but Haliweh refuses to do so.

Now we are waiting to hear the opinion of the bride, who has undergone such a great upheaval in recent months.

The incredible story of Haliweh, a native of southern Lebanon, who married an ultra-Orthodox woman from the Syrian community in Brooklyn, and shortly after the wedding it was revealed that he was a Shiite Muslim - revealed at the beginning of the month of Kislev - has stirred up American Jewry.

The couple, who met on a Jewish dating site, were married just weeks before the revelation in a modest hall in Brooklyn. Due to suspicions from the bride and her family, they discovered that he had misrepresented his identity, and that "Elijah" was none other than Eliya, a young Muslim of Shiite origin who had come to the United States from Lebanon.

Now, as mentioned, there has been a dramatic development in the exciting plot.
