Defense Minister Benny Gantz planned to participate early next week in a summit in Ramallah - with Abbas and Jordanian King Abdullah, under the title "Preventing Escalation in Jerusalem during Ramadan.".
According to the report on Channel 13, Naftali Bennett is currently vetoing the participation of the Minister of Defense.
The report states that Gantz sees this as a security necessity, but Bennett sees it as a diversion of focus from the 'Negev Summit' of foreign ministers organized by Yair Lapid, and an unnecessary preoccupation with the Palestinian issue.
The fate of participation will be decided tomorrow in a crucial meeting between the two.
Culture Minister Hili Tropper told Channel 13: "There is friction, I know this tension (between Bennett and Gantz), but I hope it will be resolved in the coming days.".
As reported on Thursday, the defense minister will fly to India on Tuesday to mark 30 years of security relations between India and Israel. Gantz's visit will precede Bennett's visit to India, which was announced a few days ago, by three days.
Bennett will fly to India on April 2 for a 3-day visit.
According to a report by political commentator Amit Segal, Gantz's announcement of his visit comes against a backdrop of deep tensions between the two chambers - with the two visits not being coordinated at all.
“Pay attention to Gantz’s revenge on Bennett: The Defense Minister’s office unexpectedly announces that he has brought forward his visit to India and will arrive three days before the Prime Minister lands there. The Indians will have to receive both delegations within a week,” Segal wrote.
He added: “Gantz’s hasty visit is not compatible with the Bennett bureau and indicates the deep tension that exists between the bureaus. Reminder: This week, Gantz revealed that Bennett’s visit will take place a few days before his.”.
