In the town of Yitzhar in Samaria, people are angry and calling on the IDF this morning (Friday) to withdraw its forces from the 'Oud Yosef Chai' yeshiva, after Border Police forces took over the yeshiva.
""This kind of historic and historic act is unprecedented since the establishment of the state," responds the settlement's spokesman, Ezri Tovi. "Turning a yeshiva into a military base is a clear crossing of boundaries.".
The settlement spokesman wonders: "The yeshiva building overlooks a mosque with a demolition order from the High Court for many years, but for some reason the rule of law shows great tolerance. We call on the Israeli government to immediately leave the yeshiva.".
The Od Yosef Chai Yeshiva responded: "'And when they answer him, so it will increase, and so it will break out.' This is the first time that the State of Israel has closed a beit midrash where Torah is studied, because of the Torah that is studied there. Turning the beit midrash building into a military outpost constitutes desecration of a holy place, as Jewish law dictates. The yeshiva was previously expelled from Joseph's Tomb, but its voice grew louder despite the government's ongoing harassment. Even now, the yeshiva intends, with God's help, to continue studying Torah and to make the voice of Torah heard on a high level. We call on all lovers of Torah to protest the crime and amplify the voice of Torah until we deserve that the entire Jewish people will walk in its light.".
The IDF decided to station a company of Border Police soldiers in the yeshiva in retaliation for last week's events in the town. According to a statement from an IDF spokesman, the soldiers are manning the 'Oud Yosef Chai' yeshiva building, "in order to provide a response to security needs.".
