The Director General of the Ministry of Health said: "The wave has not passed. The number of confirmed cases now is still higher than any wave. The burdens are still high.".

He added: "We had close to 100,000 confirmed cases per day and the number of infected people was close to twice that. Although the variant causes mild illness, certainly for those who are vaccinated, eventually you end up with a number of seriously ill patients and it reached close to 200 seriously ill patients per day.".
