Survey: 85% were exposed to the 'Million Rally' - but do not know why it was convened

A survey by Mina Tzemach for the 'Center for Jewish Research and Communication' reveals: For most secular people, preserving the Jewish character is important, but 48% would not mind if their daughter married a gentile • Only 6% indicated that kindness is special among the Haredim • And what else?

In recent days, it has been established 'The Center for Jewish Research and Communication'.   The center conducted a comprehensive survey among all Israeli citizens, which surprisingly revealed, and contrary to the sentiments reflected in the media and public discourse, that the majority of the secular public sees importance in preserving the Jewish character of the State of Israel, and high importance in instilling Israeli tradition and Jewish values ​​in their children. However, at the same time, it does not recognize the contribution of the Haredi sector to preserving Jewish tradition in its traditional character.

Among the surprising data is:

  • 90% believe that it is important to preserve Jewish identity in the country.
  • L 48%- It will not bother them if their daughter marries a Gentile.
  • 27% believe that there is nothing positive about the characteristics of the Haredi public.
  • Only 61% indicated that kindness is special among the Haredim.
  • In the opinion of 77%, the lifestyle of the Haredi public “does not help maintain the character of the country.”.
  • 73% believe that Minister Lapid did not address the Haredim for political or other reasons
  • 85% were exposed to the mass prayer rally in Jerusalem, but not one of them recognized the goals for which the rally was convened.
  • 49% believe that the education system does not do enough to preserve Jewish identity.
  • 89% want their children to know about the traditions of Israel and the old values ​​that have accompanied us throughout the generations.
  • 63% believe that a government minister cannot refuse to sit with Haredim.
  • 82% of the secular employers were interested in hiring Haredim.
  • 93% believe that it is important to maintain dialogue between Haredim and secularists.
  • 77% of the secularists personally know an ultra-Orthodox person, and 85% of them also have a positive opinion of the ultra-Orthodox person they know.
  • In contrast, in 62% secular workplaces, there are no Haredi employees.
  • Despite the loud headlines in the Beit Shemesh elections, 62% of the secularists would not mind having Haredim living in their area, and for those who currently live in a Haredi neighborhood, the figure is improving, and 77% do not see any problem with living in close proximity to Haredim.

The survey was conducted by Mina Tzemach, among 502 interviewees, who constitute a nationally representative sample of the non-religious Jewish population, aged 18 and over.
