The head of the Samaria Regional Council, Yossi Dagan, strongly rejects this evening (Sunday) the statement of the IDF spokesman regarding violent behavior by Jews towards the IDF and security forces on the land of the settlement of Homesh.

Dagan said: "I am shocked by the IDF spokesman's manipulative statement regarding the students of the Homesh yeshiva. The grave of Yehuda, who was murdered in the attack, is still fresh, and the IDF spokesman is slandering his friends for no wrongdoing on their part.".

According to Dagan, in the videos distributed by the IDF spokesman, it can be clearly seen that there is no violence by settlers, but rather the opposite. "The only thing that comes close to violence in the videos is a soldier pushing a civilian.

""The State of Israel needs to regulate the Chumash meeting and I call on the IDF spokesman not to return to difficult periods in the history of the IDF spokesman, and to use methods that placed him in controversy in Israeli society, and made him have a political image. It is regrettable and illegitimate that the IDF spokesman is creating manipulations to blacken the pioneer settlers.".

The head of the Samaria Council added: "I condemn the dishonest conduct of the IDF spokesman, which harms the army first and foremost. We support the people of Homesh and demand that the IDF spokesman immediately leave the political field.".

An IDF spokesman claimed this evening that early this morning, hundreds of settlers arrived in the area of the settlement of Homesh and that "the settlers acted violently towards the security forces, breached checkpoints that were placed in the area and entered the area of the evacuated settlement in order to try to erect illegal structures there.".

""IDF, Border Guard and police forces attempted to block the arrival of the settlers, who used physical and verbal violence, vandalized military property and blocked the passage of the troops. In addition, an IDF soldier was slightly injured as a result of being hit by a settler vehicle," the IDF spokesman said in a statement.

The statement further stated: "The IDF condemns any manifestation of violence against the security forces and will act decisively against any attempt to harm security forces personnel who are fulfilling their role in maintaining the security of Israeli citizens.".
