The Satmar Rebbe promised at the conclusion of Tractate Eruvin and the beginning of Tractate Pesachim, which is being studied by thousands of Satmar Hasidim, that "anyone who studies Tractate Pesachim will not have to repeat the Fathim.".
In a special study program designed for homeowners, they study a page of Gemara every day, five days a week - and repeat. On the Gemara on Fridays and Saturdays. Every year, exams are held on 20 pages of Gemara and scholarships are awarded to outstanding students. This week, the final exam on Tractate Eruvin was held at the Satmar Great Beit Midrash in Borough Park, with thousands of examinees from across New York City, Kiryat Yoel, and Monsey participating.
After the exam, the examinees moved to the Ateret Chaya hall, where the Tractate's closing meal was held. At the beginning of the meal, homeowners who work for a living and study and are tested on the material every month spoke.
The keynote speaker was Rabbi David Alevsky, Rosh Yeshiva Gur in Borough Park. The encore was delivered by Rabbi Yeshayi Breuner, who pays for the scholarships for the students taking the exam in Borough Park.
The Rebbe gave the main speech. Among other things, he praised the activists and governors who pay out of their own pockets for the success of the group. In his remarks, the Rebbe mentioned a saying that the Rebbe of Satmar, zt"l, author of Habbrei Yoel, once said, To the yeshiva students, when they began studying Tractate Pesachim in the yeshiva: "Whoever studies and repeats Tractate Pesachim will not have to go to the Fathim to collect alms.". The Rebbe said that he is making the same promise now as well.
