It was when the Chief Rabbi of Lod, the Gaon Rabbi Shimon Meir Biton, was honored to light the menorah on stage, but suddenly passed the "sun" to the rabbi of the Georgian community in Lod, the Gaon Rabbi Yitzhak Mozgorshvili - and he was honored by lighting the candles.

The two ran against each other in the elections for the city's rabbinate, which were held about a year ago.

Hundreds of people present in the hall cheered with thunderous applause, and the rabbi of the Georgian community loudly blessed the blessings and with great excitement lit the menorah - while the public figures and the audience played the Hanukkah songs - "These Lights" and "Maoz Tzur Yeshuati.".

The Mayor of Lod, Attorney Yair Revivo, who stood on stage alongside the rabbis, responded: "Just as the light of the Hanukkah united hearts and moved the public, so the light of the candles will illuminate us all year round and give us unity among the people of Israel and among the residents of the city of Lod from all walks of life and the human mosaic that makes up Lod.".
