The publisher of Haaretz newspaper, the extreme leftist Amos Schocken, claimed this morning (Monday) that the parents of Shalhevat Pess are to blame for the murder of their ten-month-old daughter, when a Palestinian terrorist shot her to death while she was lying in a baby stroller near the entrance to her home in the Avraham Avinu neighborhood in Hebron, on March 26, 2001.

Schocken wrote on Twitter, in response to a post by Uri Zaki, chairman of the Meretz executive, about President Yitzhak Herzog's speech in Hebron: "That Lehabet Pes was killed because of the irresponsibility of her parents who thought it was possible to raise children in a combat environment, and of the Ministry of Social Affairs, which in a normal country would remove children from war zones.".
Many netizens protested the disgusting tweet - but Schocken continued to insist: "Not a terrible statement at all. A statement that is entirely true. What is terrible is the Jews' insistence on establishing the Israeli civilian presence in Hebron.".
Media figure Shimon Riklin responded: "Schoken thinks that the person guilty of the murder of a ten-month-old baby girl who was deliberately shot in the head by Palestinian terrorists is her parents. And I think Amos Schoken is an immoral monster who gives a back-up to terrorism against us.".
Media personality Yinon Magal responded in his program on Radio 103: "Amos, you are scum. A despicable man. How many zeros can the extreme leftists in Israel be? The man has gone off the rails." His colleague on the program Ben Caspit responded: "I don't think he is despicable, he at least stands by his opinion transparently. I think he is wrong in this area.".
Yaakov, one of the Twitter users, wrote to Schoken: "Shame on you. Jewish blood is not a pauper" - and the publisher of 'Haaretz' responded to him: "May Shalhevet Pes' parents be ashamed. Jewish blood is not a pauper.".
Surfer Keren Cohen attacked: "What a despicable tweet. Shalhevet Pes was murdered in a horrific and brutal murder while lying in a baby stroller. How can you write something like that without dying of shame?".
Schocken replied to her: "When you take your babies and move with them to a war zone, no matter what, write this tweet then. If you don't do it, you'll understand what I'm saying.".
And a surfer replied: "You're completely screwed! A sniper shot her just because she's Jewish. The riots in Hebron started before the dispute over the division of the land. There's no abyss deep enough for your disgust. You'd better apologize.".
The Minister of Religious Services, Matan Kahane, also sharply attacked Schocken: "The publisher of Haaretz descends to new depths. A 10-month-old baby was murdered by a despicable murderer, and the publisher of Haaretz blames the parents. Shalhevet Pess was murdered because she is Jewish and because our enemies are not willing to accept the return of the people of Israel to their land.".
