Minister Lapid wrote in a post he published on Facebook that his sister-in-law decided to resign from KKL-JNF and from all her positions at Yesh Atid.

""She wasn't ready to take it anymore. The wild attack on social media. The trumpet blasts. Netanyahu, the accused in three indictments, the man who corrupted the system for years, who stands at the podium and says, 'No signature testifies to his sister-in-law,' to the mocking laughter of all those who oppose the law that would prohibit those accused of crimes from serving in the Israeli Knesset.".

Lapid added: "If I am the one who is being accused, I testify about my sister-in-law that there is no better or more honest person in the world than her, and she has no idea how this happened to her. All she wanted was to establish the Yesh Atid women's headquarters. I was the one who asked her to grow up, go to the JNF as a volunteer and fight corruption there.".

Lapid said that his sister-in-law, a lawyer, asked "too many difficult questions" in the course of her job.

""The KKL-JNF board of directors, where Amit Deri's brother Shlomo, also accused of crimes, serves as co-chair, will breathe a sigh of relief this morning. Ilail is a talented lawyer and asked far too many difficult questions. Questions that only those who want the public good ask.

""Ilail will be fine, of course. She is loved, she is smart, we are a strong family. She promised me that she would continue to be active as a volunteer in the Women's Headquarters, but it is not her job to stand in the media firing line. The spin men and the corrupt won this battle, we are staying here to make sure they don't win the war.".

Last week, during his speech in the plenum, Netanyahu attacked Lapid for allegedly appointing his sister-in-law to a position in the KKL.

'"Lapid said that the JNF is a conduit for transferring funds to political parties. Now he has appointed his sister-in-law to the JNF board of directors. It has been said about this - his signature does not indicate his sister-in-law.".
