Minister of Religious Services Matan Kahane selected Lt. Col. (res.) Gal Shem-Tov to the position of Deputy Director General of the Ministry of Religious Services.

Shem Tov, 43, began his position at the Ministry of Religious Services today (Monday) and will deal with the ministry's core areas.

Shem-Tov is a retired Lt. Col. who served in a number of command positions in the Air Force. He brings with him extensive experience and knowledge in systems management.

In his youth, he studied at the Bnei Akiva Yeshiva "Ohel Shlomo" in Beersheba, and holds a bachelor's degree in political science and geography from Ben-Gurion University. And a master's degree in national security from the University of Haifa.

About a month ago, CPA Michael Giovanni was appointed to the position of Deputy Director of Religious Services at the ministry after the position had been vacant for about five years.

The Ministry of Religious Services notes with satisfaction that the key positions that had not been filled for several years were filled within a few months, which will lead to a change in the perception of service to citizens in the religious services system.
