Ahead of the upcoming vote on approving the state budget for 2021-2022, the Finance Committee today (Tuesday) presented the details of the distribution of coalition funds. These are agreements reached verbally between the factions and the various Knesset members on the eve of the formation of the government.

Through these agreements, coalition members get to promote various issues close to their hearts, which they have personally promised to invest in. These agreements amount to approximately 2 billion shekels.

According to a document presented to ministers by Finance Minister Avigdor Lieberman, this is an "amount that will not exceed 849 million shekels" in the current year (2021) and a maximum of 1.26 billion shekels next year. The updated document includes 512 million shekels for the coming year and 882 million shekels next year.

The agreements indicate that the Meretz and Labor parties will allocate 6 million shekels for counseling centers and emergency shelters for young people who are in trouble.

The Yesh Atid party has proposed an additional 6 million shekels for the Ministry of Agriculture's treatment of street cats in Israel.

Noam Party Chairman, MK Avi Maoz, responded to the allocation of a budget of 6 million NIS for street cats: "The government is all about cats, there is no budget for soldiers, for families in need, but there are cats. It is not possible that taxes are being raised, that cuts are being made for the weak, that subsidies are being cut for daycare centers - and cats have a budget. Shame on the government, the citizens of Israel deserve more, they deserve a different government.".

MK Malchieli said on 'Kol Bermah': "When I saw the budget for street cats, I couldn't believe it. Poor people are being thrown onto the streets, and for Bennett's coalition, street cats are more important than hungry children. I have nothing against cats, but about priorities.".
