A 47-year-old city resident with no criminal record who works at a psychiatric facility in Tirat Carmel was arrested on suspicion of murdering Melnik. The suspect in the murder, who had prior acquaintance with her, will be brought in later today for a hearing on extending his detention.

Last night around 9:00 PM, Melnik's grandmother reported her missing, after she was supposed to come to her from the boarding school she attended in the south of the country. The grandmother also reported that there was a connection between her granddaughter and a person from the north, and the police began operations to locate her.

Technological investigation activities led the police to the address of the man the grandmother mentioned, a resident of Kiryat Motzkin, and he, as mentioned, was arrested on suspicion of involvement in the act. The motive is still unclear.

The police said they are investigating "a suspected murder in Kiryat Motzkin, in which a partially buried human body was found near a construction site in the city. A suspect was arrested shortly before for involvement in the act.".
