Developing: In recent days, an association of the Rosh HaYeshiva community of Gur, Rabbi Alter, purchased a plot of land at 72 Yermiyahu Street - at the entrance to Jerusalem - for 40 million shekels. Holidays? New from Danona WOW: Yogurt with a strudel-flavored cream layer Hundreds of thousands have already obeyed the 'Gadoilim' and received a third vaccination. And you? How to ensure yourself a safe ride on public transportation? This is how The land was purchased from the Jerusalem Elbaum family. The purchase agreement includes an option to purchase additional adjacent land in the future. Currently, the one-and-a-half-dunam area houses the Chayei Moshe yeshiva, apartments, garages, and various industrial buildings. The Rosh Yeshiva Megur community intends to erect an 8-story building on the land for a Beit Midrash and other institutions of the new community. In purchasing the plot, the community is making a clear statement: the courtyard is being established and developed both economically and practically. A senior member of the Rosh Yeshiva Megur community told Shlomit Tzur of Calcalist - which revealed the deal - that the community has already established yeshivas and educational institutions in a number of buildings that the community rents in Jerusalem and other cities. According to him, the association is financing the deal and additional properties that the community intends to purchase through a crowdfunding campaign that has received donations of tens of millions of shekels. As you may recall, at the end of the summer, the community held a crowdfunding campaign, which was crowned the most successful campaign ever conducted by Charidi. The campaign raised over 53 million NIS from donations from approximately 48,500 people. The purchase of the property on Yirmiyahu Street is the community's first purchase transaction. Currently, the community center is in a building on Yosef Ziv Street, in a property that was leased for 10 years, while the construction of an upper floor for a large 'Tishim' hall is being completed. About two years ago, a major rift arose in Gur Hasidism, with the retirement of Rabbi Alter from Hasidism along with a hundred families - a retirement that continues all the time, with over 40 families added to the community in the last month alone. So far, about 500 families have already retired. The great difficulty in moving from the old Gur compound to the new community stems from the fact that all the children attend Hasidic institutions, and such a move requires finding new institutions for all family members. Because of this, in many places, children from families who had retired from studying in all-Hasidic institutions entered. In Jerusalem, the stronghold of Hasidism, the community of the Harar Alter established yeshivas and schools, in rented buildings. Among the community's supporters are wealthy people from Israel and abroad, including those who were until recently some of the prominent donors to Gur Hasidism, such as the owners of the Osher Ad chain, British governor Mandy Teitelbaum, wealthy people Meir Melnik and Moti Klein from New York, and other well-known philanthropists.
