An unusual incident occurred this evening (Thursday) in the Knesset plenary: Knesset Speaker, MK Mickey Levy, requested to return to his seat on the Knesset stage, during the discussions on approving the state budget, as is customary.

However, MK Ahmed Tibi refused to come down from the podium: "This is not right. I am more experienced than you in conducting meetings. This is not right. It looks bad on the cameras. I don't want to come down.".

Chairman Levy finally gave up and waited until Tibi came down.

Ahmed Tibi's entourage reported that the Knesset Speaker surprised him by asking him to step down from the stage, earlier than they had agreed. The Speaker withdrew the request and later apologized for the way it was done. A few minutes after the incident, the substitution was made, as planned and with a smile.

Tibi later explained: "We exchanged greetings after a few minutes with a smile and fun. There was a slight misunderstanding about the format. Respect to Chairman Levy.".
