1.

Jewish channels, social networks, and everyone in general, are rushing to report on the 'opening of the Selichot' with favorite singers, etc.

Where would you like to travel? We have compiled great vacation offers for you only in Israel.

In the Carlebach style, of course. Festival. Celebration. Going out in pairs for Slichot.

""What kind of apologies are you going to? No, we're just with that one. No, he's moving something." We're going to ask for forgiveness for all the filth we've done, but only if the guitars are tuned correctly.

Midnight show.

And in the meantime, my old friend Shmulik, with a selected group, sets out on his annual 'Slichot Tour'.

An exciting journey I experienced.

They visit 'exotic' Jewish sites around the world, going to remote places where no one has been. "A stranger wouldn't understand this," he says.

""Last year, for example, we visited the saint's grave, which lies in the middle of the forest. It was midnight, the darkness was thick, we couldn't see anything from the outside. Then we started with soulful songs by Carlebach.

""My tears didn't stop flowing. I climbed to the heights. I looked at my friends, tough businessmen who came with me, I recognized wet cheeks in everyone.".

And how was your manna? I asked dryly, did you include some of the inhabitants of the dark forest?

Shmulik looked at me like an immature person, you're stupid, he said, we were in Frankfurt, Krakow, Brisk, Prague, Warsaw, Metz, Bradin, what are you even talking about?.

I was speechless.

The urban diaspora list has me stumped. So what about the cities where women who are not necessarily modest walk around during the day? So what about the many cafes that the group visited, where Rabbi Ezrachi's conversation didn't exactly resonate? So what about the exciting tour that included a visit to other different and interesting sites?

so what?

Is there anything or anyone that can compete with the tomb of the saint in the dark forest that you reach in the dead of night when only the iPhone flashlights scare away the squirrels?

3.

And why are they always Ashkenazi?

Why are all the Selichot events, or spiritual experience sessions, done by Ashkenazim?

Why do the simple, young, hardworking Spaniards of today, those with the thin silver chain around their necks, who wake up every morning at 4:30 for Selichot when only hot tea with Luisa keeps them awake, give up on New Age spiritual experiences?

'The colorful Mizrahi "We have sinned before you, have mercy on us" has earned quite a bit of Ashkenazi ridicule. You sing "We have sinned before you," the members of the elitist yeshiva mocked. On the other hand, "We have sinned before you" continues to be sung every night in Sderot and St. Louis, in Paris and Flatbush, in Modi'in Illit and in Amsterdam.

Many years. Many places. With devotion, in harmony, in a melody shared by millions of Jews of Mizrahi descent.

Can the same be said about the new midnight shows?
