Of those confirmed yesterday, 150 people (10.5%) returned from abroad - 118 of them vaccinated.
And where did they return from? Most of them are from Greece and the United States - two countries that are not defined as at-risk countries or that have a severe warning for coronavirus infection, with 35 confirmed cases returning from Greece and 15 confirmed travelers returning from the United States.
Other countries: 13 who returned from Cyprus, 12 who returned from Turkey, and another 10 who returned from Georgia. 5 Israelis who returned from Britain, 4 from Italy, 3 from Germany and Bulgaria, 2 from Peru, France, Hungary, the Netherlands, Tanzania, Ukraine and Egypt and individual travelers who returned from Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, China, Romania and Serbia.
Only 20 Israelis who returned from countries considered at maximum risk or those with a severe warning for infection were found positive for the virus: 7 who returned from Uzbekistan, 4 who returned to Israel from Russia, and one Israeli who landed from Brazil - all three countries with a maximum risk level.
The infection rate rose to 1.42 yesterday - the closest to the highest infection rate since the outbreak of the pandemic, which was 1.55 on September 15, 2020.
There are 140 coronavirus patients hospitalized in Israel today. The condition of 63 is classified as serious, compared to 45 patients a week ago - and 12 of them are on ventilators.
Since the outbreak of the pandemic in Israel, 6,452 people have died. Yesterday, two people died from the virus.
