The surge in morbidity:  The Ministry of Health announced today (Friday) a change in the entry policy into Israel, with the aim of stopping further infections from entering the country.

As part of the new restrictions, the destinations to which flights can be made will be further reduced, and the list of countries that require complete isolation upon return will be expanded.

Starting next Friday - July 23 - Spain and Kyrgyzstan will be added to the list of 'high-risk' countries to which flights will be prohibited.

These countries will join Argentina, Brazil, South Africa, India, Mexico, Russia, Belarus and Uzbekistan.

Starting next Friday, more countries will be added to the list of countries under a 'travel warning', from which return requires full isolation (including vaccinated and recovered people): Britain, Cyprus, Turkey, Georgia, Uganda, Myanmar, Fiji, Panama, Cambodia, Kenya and Liberia.

As of today - July 16, the countries on this 'travel warning' list are: United Arab Emirates, Seychelles, Ecuador, Ethiopia, Bolivia, Guatemala, Honduras, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Namibia, Paraguay, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica and Tunisia.

The Ministry of Health also recalls that starting today, all returnees from abroad - from all countries, of all ages, including those recovering and vaccinated - are required to quarantine for 24 hours or until the results of the test performed at the border crossing are received, whichever comes first.

This means: all those returning from abroad are required to quarantine, but those returning from countries to which a travel warning has been issued are required to quarantine for a period of time, not just 24 hours, until the result is received.

However, according to a report in Kan News, travelers from abroad who landed in Israel today report that they did not receive any notification that they were required to quarantine.

The Ministry of Health stated: "The list of countries with a severe travel warning and the list of countries at maximum risk is updated according to the rates of morbidity in the world - and therefore it is expected to expand from time to time.".
