""Here in this holy place, which in less than two weeks, we will mark Tisha B'Av, the destruction of the Temple, a place that teaches us the sublime lesson of Israel's independence, its sovereignty, its image, its sorrow and pain, and its disaster. Here, from this place, there is nothing more appropriate than to call for unity in our people, true love of Israel," said Herzog.

He added: "I intend to devote all my energy to this. I am aware of the tensions and pains and great sorrow that reflect the mood of our people. I hope in every way and by every means that I can exercise by virtue of my authority and status as the 11th President of the State of Israel, to do everything to make a significant contribution to our unity, a significant contribution to calming the spirits and strengthening the sublime vision of Ahavat Yisrael. It is certainly possible.".

Herzog signed with the verse: "The Lord will give strength to his people, the Lord will bless his people with peace.".
