About 120 residents of Savyon gathered this week for an evening of "Wisdom and Soul" to commemorate the anniversary of the Lubavitcher Rebbe's death.

Rabbi Shmuel Bistritzky, Chabad emissary in Savyon and rabbi of the community, opened the evening with words of blessing, and then the evening's guest - Attila Schompelby, senior commentator and Ynet Ulpan presenter, moderated a special panel in which Rabbi Zosha Wolf - a Hasidic scholar and representative of the JEM company, and Rabbi Shlomo Bistritzky, rabbi of the state of Hamburg, participated.

Through moving multimedia videos, those present watched heads of state and IDF commanders talk about their secret connection with the Lubavitcher Rebbe.

Attila Schömpelby tweeted on his Twitter account: "This week I had the honor of hosting a 'Wisdom and Soul' event in Savyon to commemorate the Lubavitcher Rebbe's Day of Rejoicing, initiated by Rabbi Shmuel Bystritsky, Chabad emissary in Savyon. Rabbi Zusha Wolf delved into the Rebbe's secret connection with the top brass of the state, and Rabbi Shlomo Bystritsky, the rabbi of Hamburg, spoke about Jewish life in Europe at that time. It was a fascinating evening.".

He added: "I am not a believer or a religious person, but the Rebbe's leadership figure has fascinated me for several years now. The Rebbe's view of the need to conduct a dialogue with every Jew and person, wherever they may be, is very intriguing in light of the closure and opacity of part of the Orthodox establishment today. For those who are interested, I highly recommend reading a little about the man.".
