The affair of Muhammad and Morel's 'assimilated wedding' raised the ire of quite a few religious people, and this was reflected in the harsh headlines and harsh text posted on ultra-Orthodox websites.
But I have a hard time understanding why the Haredi media is so upset about the assimilated couple? With all due respect, you are nothing but blind. Because assimilation has long been here. Here is a statistic that may not be well-known enough: the number of mixed marriages between non-Jewish immigrants and Jewish Israelis stands at 400,000.
And in words: four hundred thousand. And there is no one to speak of or to be heard. This is no longer a trivial incident, it happens every day, every hour.
What is the source of this tragedy? It stems from a stupid policy that makes conversion stricter and assimilation easier...
A policy that is entirely a distortion of Halacha and common sense, and against the tradition of rulings passed down through generations, but there is no one to talk to. For to whom can this be explained, to the brain-dead and blinded by reason?
But then suddenly everyone is shouting against assimilation?
Hypocrites!
One must always remember that "the stricter the conversion, the easier the assimilation"...
Wait for the waves of immigration from France
Suddenly it hurts the Haredim, and not only them but also other groups, about the assimilation, good morning, have you woken up? What happened? About the approximately four hundred thousand who immigrated under the Law of Return, who are not Jews, who are assimilating every day, you were silent. What is this tolerable assimilation?
According to all forecasts, a wave of immigration from France is expected in the hundreds of thousands. Of this mass, about 451% are mixed-race and who knows how many are gentiles according to Halacha. Will there be demonstrations then too?
Oh, fools! Instead of adopting the wise rulings of the Maran and Rabbis, led by Maran Rabbi Uziel, to ease the issue of conversion, you are becoming stricter and encouraging assimilation.
Oh, you fools, open your eyes and see, this storm is yours, and you will yet be judged for it.
I am aware of the fact that this is not the first time I have warned about this, but the importance of the matter, and the lack of recognition of the error, requires that it be mentioned again and again, and about this the prophet has already said, "Cry with your throat, do not be silent; lift up your voice like a trumpet and tell my people their transgression and the house of Israel their sin.".
Let me clarify again: The harsh attitude towards those who come from the "seed of Israel" to join the whole of Israel in truth and in accordance with Halacha, and are rejected due to an extremist and radical approach. It is against what the Torah commanded in this week's parashah that we read last Shabbat, "And you shall love the stranger"...
So why doesn't anyone mention this? The fact that terror and fear have fallen upon many rabbis who know the truth and remain silent and violate "You shall not be afraid of anyone" is their problem, and the collar will hang around their necks. We have no choice but to memorize the rule over and over again: the stricter the conversion, the easier the assimilation.
