Segal: 'We have lost the ability to criticize journalists without accusing them of treason''

After News 12's decision to attach security to journalists:  Amit Segal, the senior political commentator for News 12, attacked the threats against journalists this morning (Tuesday). Segal tweeted on his Twitter account: "We have lost all ability to criticize journalists without accusing them of treason, of blowing the trumpets, or of being 'Al Jazeera 12.' No one should be beaten, insulted, or accompanied by security guards, no matter what they said and how much it outrages someone." He then also tweeted at Channel 20 commentator Shimon Riklin, who often attacks the media: "And yes, I also mean the one who just a week ago lamented and rightly lamented being silenced on a broadcast at Habima Square but now calls journalists 'terror supporters.'" According to a report on the Walla website, security was assigned to the anchor of the main edition of News 12 - Yonit Levy. According to the report, security was also assigned to political commentator and weekend edition host Dana Weiss, 'Meet the Press' anchor Rina Matzliach, and legal reporter and commentator Guy Peleg. Security was attached to the four following threats heard on social media throughout Operation Guardian of the Walls. A demonstration is expected to take place this evening in front of the studios of Channels 12 and 13 news companies in Neve Ilan, under the title "Say Enough to the Media's Anti-Zionist Brain Engineering.".
