The consumer price index for July recorded an increase of 0.1%

The Consumer Price Index rose by 0.11% in July 2014, compared to June 2014, reaching 102.4 points, compared to 102.3 points in the previous month. The Central Bureau of Statistics reported this today.

Price increases were particularly recorded in the following categories: vegetables and fruits (by 1.9%), transportation (by 1%), and housing (by 0.9%).

Price decreases were particularly recorded in the following categories: clothing and footwear (by 7.5%), furniture and household equipment (by 1.4%), culture and entertainment (by 0.6%), and food (by 0.4%).

Since the beginning of the year, the general index and the index excluding vegetables and fruits have each increased by 0.1%. The index excluding energy remained unchanged and the index excluding housing decreased by 0.7%.

In the last 12 months (July 2014 compared to July 2013), the general index and the index excluding vegetables and fruits increased by 0.3% each, the index excluding energy increased by 0.2% and the index excluding housing decreased by 0.5%.

The CBS also reports that comparing transactions carried out in the months of May 2014 - June 2014, compared to transactions carried out in the months of April 2014 - May 2014, it was found that apartment prices decreased by 0.2%.

This decrease reflects the change in prices minus changes in quality in the mix and type of apartments. However, the figure is not final since there are additional transactions that were carried out during this period and have not yet been reported.
