The coronavirus outbreak is on the decline, but a mask is still required in closed spaces. Remember?

""The tragedies are great and unimaginable," said Gafni, "It's terrible and horrible. Praying next to me in the synagogue is someone whose grandson was killed. And there's another one whose brother was killed.".

""It's terrible and horrible. The State of Israel has not known such a situation since the founding of the state. Each person is a whole world.".

Gafni said that he himself had previously warned about the danger posed by the way the revelry was being conducted in Meron, and even avoided going to the place himself.

""I have never traveled to Meron on Lag BaOmer," said Gafni. "I said in discussions in the Finance Committee and in the Knesset plenum - Meron looks like East Asia, this place has not been touched since the founding of the state. It is impossible for so many people to come to such a small place and not have a disaster.".

Regarding the demand to establish an investigative committee to investigate the disaster, Gafni said: "I am not opposed and I am not in favor. First, government decisions need to be made, for the government to say what it intends to do in this place. Why haven't they done it until now?"

""I don't intend to remain silent about this. The Israeli government needs to make a courageous decision, and not just donate five million shekels. Solutions need to be found." .
