Landau - whose identity was released today - is a resident of the Sde Boaz settlement in Gush Etzion. According to a report on the Ynet website, he was released after the Jerusalem Magistrate's Court was convinced that "there is a hermetic alternative to detention that can neutralize the particular danger posed by him.".

According to the indictment, Landau used to buy MDMA drugs through the Telegram app - and then would provide them to his patients for money.

The prosecution noted in the indictment that Landau's 'treatment' included several preliminary meetings, in which he explained to his patients that he was not a guarantee of the success of the treatment and that his role was to 'accompany them on their journey.'.

According to the indictment, Landau would place a plate in the center of the room with a capsule containing the drug, in varying amounts from patient to patient, and then leave the room. After the patient took the drug, Landau would return to the room.

According to the indictment, the patients would pay Landau a variable amount of 1,000-1,400 shekels for the treatment and drugs.

Landau is accused of treating six people in this way on 13 different occasions.

He is charged with six counts of exporting, importing, trading and supplying dangerous drugs. His investigation also revealed that he has no certification or training to treat people suffering from mental disorders.

The therapist's lawyer, Adi Kedar, told Ynet: "The court ordered my client's release, among other things, after it was unequivocally proven that there is no connection at all, certainly not a causal connection, to the shocking murder. All attempts to make such a connection by manipulative elements were unsuccessful.".

Attorneys Yehuda Fried and Tal Gabbay, who represent the father, told Haredim 10: "We welcome the decision to publish the name of the 'therapist,' as there is great public interest in exposing those who exploited patients' weaknesses and fed them hard drugs under the guise of medical treatment.".

""We will recall that the district psychiatrist already determined in the interim stage that there is a causal connection between the drugs that the father received from that charlatan therapist and the psychotic event that led to the murder. We are confident that when the final opinion is received, the therapist's indictment will be amended in a way that will link the therapist to the murder and will also include the offense of causing serious mental harm to the father.".
