''The knife opened and penetrated his leg': Firefighter injured in Old City drill

During a large-scale training exercise held with the participation of all emergency and rescue agencies in the Old City of Jerusalem, a firefighter from the Beersheba station was injured in his leg.

The exercise was conducted as part of the fire and police's preparations for a Christian holiday.

The fire department reported that the firefighter was injured in the leg from a stab wound from a knife he was carrying on his body and was urgently taken to Shaare Zedek Hospital for treatment.

Lieutenant Colonel Eli Edri, commander of the Beer Station: "During a preparatory exercise in which all emergency and rescue agencies, police, Jerusalem Municipality, and emergency medical agencies took part, a firefighter from the Beer Station was injured.

""He was well-protected and equipped, including a knife he carried on his body that is used from time to time by the fighters during their work. Towards the end of the training, the knife opened and penetrated his leg. He lost a lot of blood, received medical treatment on the spot by medical personnel and was taken to Shaare Zedek Hospital while conscious for further treatment.".
