Lieberman: "The bodies of the soldiers or we will return the bodies of Muhammad Daif and Haniya""

שעות לפני פקיעת מועד הפסקת האש בת 72 השעות, ועל רקע המו"מ בקהיר על מתווה להפסקת אש ארוכת טווח, אמר היום (רביעי) שר החוץ אביגדור ליברמן כי לא ניתן יהיה להגיע להסדרה עם החמאס. במהלך מפגש שקיים עם ראשי רשויות בדרום, הבהיר ליברמן: "העמדה הברורה שלי ושל חברי הייתה מההתחלה שצריך הכרעה, זו המטרה העיקרית כדי למנוע את המבצע הבא. עם חבורת המחבלים הזאת אי אפשר להגיע לשום הסדרה, בלי שניפטר מחמאס לא נוכל להתקדם. מדינת ישראל לא יכולה להרשות לעצמה מלחמת התשה, כפי שאף מדינה אחרת לא יכולה, לכן אנחנו חייבים הכרעה, גם במחיר של הסלמה". בפגישה השתתפו בנוסף השר לביטחון פנים יצחק אהרונוביץ', שר החקלאות יאיר שמיר, וסגנית שר הפנים פאינה קירשנבאום.
