Apple has begun production of a new iPad model; unveiling expected soon

Mass production of a full-size iPad with a 9.7-inch screen has already begun, and the device will be unveiled at the end of this quarter or early next, according to two of the sources.

The doubts of dark have begun producing new iPads, according to sources familiar with the matter, as part of the company's efforts to boost tablet sales after two consecutive quarters of declines.

Mass production of a full-size iPad with a 9.7-inch screen has already begun, and the device will be unveiled at the end of this quarter or early next, according to two of the sources. Production of a new version of the 7.9-inch iPad mini has also begun, and the device will likely be available by the end of the year, according to the sources.

Timing is critical in Apple's efforts to push a new product ahead of the holiday shopping season. The product line is expected to include new iPhones with larger displays and a watch-like device for health tracking. Apple will hold a launch event for the new phones on Sept. 9. Last month, Apple CEO Tim Cook said the company had "an incredible lineup of products in the pipeline" and that "we just can't wait to show them to you.".

Apple must boost its iPad business, its second-largest product category after the iPhone. In Apple's fiscal third quarter, which ended June 28, iPad sales shrank to 13.3 million units.
