Finance Minister Yisrael Katz complained about a week ago to Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit that the Finance Ministry's legal advisor was giving biased briefings against Katz from the Corona Cabinet.

According to the report on Channel 12, the Finance Minister was equipped with a photocopy of correspondence between the Finance Attorney General and a senior official in the ministry, which contained explicit briefings against the minister from the cabinet, including specific quotes and precise transcriptions of Katz's words.

These words, which were leaked, according to the minister, by the Treasury's attorney general, found their way into columns and reports by a senior economic commentator.

Today (Wednesday), Mandelait clarified that after the Finance Ministry's legal advisor learned of the existence of the claim, he contacted the Attorney General last Sunday and asked for clarification.

Among other things, he claimed that there were never any issues, that he never contacted that journalist, and that he did not brief the minister in charge.

At the end of that conversation and in light of the clarifications, the Attorney General and the Attorney General of the Ministry of Finance agreed that the latter would hold a conversation with the minister to resolve the matter, thereby completing the handling of the matter.

This has not been done until now due to the Minister of Finance being in isolation.

Response from the office of Finance Minister Israel Katz: "The Finance Minister confirms that he complained to the Attorney General that the Finance Ministry's attorney general leaked materials from the coronavirus cabinet meeting, accompanied by personal slander against him, and noted that there is documentation regarding the act. Minister Katz asked the Attorney General to act at his discretion to address this serious phenomenon.".
