Prof. Gabi Barbash, former Director General of the Ministry of Health, commented today (Tuesday) in an interview with the Neubach Foundation on Channel 2 on the Corona Cabinet's decision - saying that the lockdown should only be eased when there are dozens of infected people per day.
""We brought back the education system when there were 2,000 and look what happened. This is a mistake. We will start with 2,000, we will take out the economy and most likely we will get stuck on the first phase of the program and will not be able to move on to the second phase, because we will see an increase from this phase - and then the pressures will begin.".
He said, "There shouldn't be more than 200 infections per day. I suggest waiting until Monday, and making an assessment, neutralizing the ultra-Orthodox community, of the date of lifting the quarantine. There is a huge gap from the first wave. We will have to look at the coming days and understand the direction we are going. I assume that we are decreasing in morbidity, that's what it looks like.".
Regarding the claim that the ultra-Orthodox sector wants to get infected with the coronavirus, he said: "This is a stupid statement. You see the deaths in this sector, it is very difficult to isolate the elderly from the young in such a crowded environment. We may discover in another 5-10 years that people who have been infected with this virus are suffering from severe consequences.".
Barbash was asked about Trump's quick exit from the hospital - and replied: "You see an elderly man who apparently got sick and is recovering, and instead of saying 'Save me,' he comes and says 'Listen, this disease is mild,' and sends the message that is the exact opposite of what a responsible person is supposed to send. That's Trump. To me, he's just spitting in the face of the medical team that treated him.".
