Will Jerusalem-based associations receive significant discounts?

Collaboration between United Torah Judaism representative in the Jerusalem Municipality, Yitzhak Pindros, together with property tax discount portfolio holder Nahmaniel Saban from the Shas faction, and city treasurer Eli Zitok, to prepare the infrastructure for setting a special property tax rate for non-profit organizations that will be implemented in the future.

The activity began with Pindaros, who also serves as a member of the Property Tax Discounts Committee, contacting the City Secretary with a request to set a property tax rate for non-profit organizations, following numerous requests that have recently arrived at his office and the Citizen Service Center operating in the city's neighborhoods.

It turned out that welfare associations are falling through the cracks and are not receiving the property tax discounts they deserve, since by default their property tax rate is set at the highest level, like property tax for businesses, and as a result they are required to pay huge amounts. Even after the discount they are given, after much effort and running around, the third they still have to pay remains disproportionately high.

An urgent meeting was subsequently held at the treasurer's office, with all those involved, including the manager. Tax and Collection Division Moshe Levy.

At the meeting, it was decided that it was necessary to establish a new and special property tax rate for the associations.

The rate will go into effect after approval by the City Council and the Ministry of the Interior, with the hope that it will make things significantly easier for the associations.
