In an inspection conducted by the Ministry of Health, as part of routine inspections to check the quality of food products sold - and in strict compliance with refrigerated products - Listeria bacteria were found in the Shamir Company's tahini salad.

This bacteria is known to be particularly dangerous for women before giving birth, as infection with it can cause extremely serious consequences with a high probability.

The company is working to collect the product from shelves and instructs consumers who purchased the product not to eat it.

The product is a tahini salad whose last date of manufacture is only May 16, 2014.

An ultra-Orthodox reporter from 10 presented a problem to the authorized officials at Shamir: Following Passover, there are difficulties in returning products in the chains - both due to various kashrut guidelines and due to the heavy workload in the stores themselves.

In response, the company decided to take these difficulties into account, and will not require physical visits to the chains and will instead make a phone call to the company's call center, where the customer will be required to read the barcode on the product. The company, for its part, will arrange to send a credit to the customer's home.
