In Jerusalem, Rabbi Amram Blau, z"l, one of the heads of the Kashrut Committee of the "Ultra-Orthodox Community," passed away last night (Saturday night), at the age of 88.

The late Rabbi Z"l was born in Jerusalem in 1932, to his father, Rabbi Yaakov Blau, and his mother, Mrs. Tzipora, may God have mercy on her.
His grandfather was Rabbi Moshe Blau, the late leader of the Agudat Yisrael movement in the Land of Israel before the establishment of the state.
When he reached his peak, he married his wife, the daughter of the eminent Rabbi Binyamin Ze'ev Sokolovsky, zt"l, and they lived in the Hornstein houses.
At the age of 20, he began working as a supervisor in the 'Kashrout Committee' of the 'Eda', until he became - thanks to the knowledge and experience he gained - one of the committee's senior officials.
As part of his work, he dealt with matters of Shemitah and was considered highly knowledgeable in all areas of the world of kashrut.
He left behind a blessed generation of righteous men: sons and daughters and hundreds of descendants. His son, Rabbi Moshe Uri Blau, the late Rabbi, passed away suddenly more than a decade ago.
His brother was the late Rabbi David Nachman of Blau, one of the leaders of the independent education of the Agoy.
His funeral procession left tonight at 2:00 AM from the Shamgar Funeral Home in Jerusalem for Mount Hamunehot - where he will be buried.
