Following an intensive police investigation, a prosecutor's statement was submitted to the Jerusalem Magistrate's Court yesterday (Tuesday) against a suspect in break-ins and thefts from homes in the city of Modi'in Elite.

The arrest of the suspect, a Jerusalem resident in his 60s, was carried out after the police conducted an undercover investigation over the past year following complaints received from city residents about break-ins and thefts from homes in the city.

It is suspected that the suspect stole tens of thousands of shekels and jewelry of great value over the years.

During his arrest, the forces searched his home and found a large amount of suspected stolen property and burglary tools. Some of the equipment was identified by the victims and returned to their owners.

A source close to the investigation tells Haredim 10: "This is a Jew from Jerusalem, about 60 years old, who for about 5 years broke into dozens of apartments. He had a patent key, looked for wooden doors. He would come in broad daylight, when people were not there, enter the main door of the house, steal whatever was there - small money, jewelry - but in total it amounted to huge sums.".

According to him, "This is not just any burglar. This is a sophisticated burglar. Usually, those with wooden doors are poor and every piece of jewelry they have is a lot. They searched for it for years and couldn't find it.".

The burglar operated on the streets of Mesek Hochma, Avne Nezer, and Katsut Hoshen in Kiryat Sefer, but avoided operating in the Rachfeld or Heftziba neighborhoods.

Upon completion of the investigation, a prosecutor's statement was submitted yesterday and his detention was extended until tomorrow (June 18) for the purpose of filing an indictment and requesting detention until the end of the proceedings.
