Will journalists be denied the long-awaited photo of Netanyahu in the dock? According to a report in Kan News, the camera crews that will arrive at the Jerusalem District Court tomorrow (Sunday) for the opening of the Prime Minister's trial are expected to leave the courtroom before the Prime Minister takes his seat.
The report states that only one defense attorney on behalf of Netanyahu will be allowed into the hearing room, and that Attorney Micha Patman is expected to be the defense attorney who will enter the hearing with Netanyahu, after the prime minister was prohibited from arriving with two defense attorneys. It is possible that the defense will request replacements during the hearing.
The number of people present in the Jerusalem District Courtroom will be limited, and they will sit two meters apart. Representatives of the media will sit in a separate room closed to journalists on another floor, and the hearing will be broadcast to them via closed circuit.
According to the report, the prosecution is expected to request that the trial be held several times a week, while the defense attorneys will request many months for evaluations, claiming that some of the investigation material has only recently reached them and that they do not know whether they are supposed to receive additional material.
Netanyahu's defense attorneys are also expected to request that his response to the charges be given mostly in writing - and that too in many weeks, or even months.
Netanyahu supporters are expected to arrive at the district court tomorrow to demonstrate outside the courtroom. Ministers will also arrive, including Transportation Minister Miri Regev, Public Security Minister and Minister Tzachi Hanegbi. .
However, they will be banned from entering the courtroom. The court is preparing for heavy crowds and demonstrations near the courthouse in Jerusalem.
In the Likud, criticism of the Attorney General and the law enforcement system was intensified this evening.
Education Minister Gallant wrote on Twitter: "The hypocrisy of the media ahead of the opening of the Prime Minister's trial is once again being celebrated. The strong desire to see the image of the Prime Minister in the dock outweighs everything.".
Galant added: "Where was this determination and mobilization just a few days ago, regarding the disclosure of the Mandelblit-Ashkenazi conversations?".
MK Shlomo Kari also attacked on Twitter: "The new parties - the Attorney General's Office, the Attorney General's Office, the former Commissioner General and the media, failed in their first mission, to ensure that Netanyahu does not go to trial as prime minister - we defeated them in this battle. Now, they will do everything to influence public opinion and the judges, to lie, threaten, incite and humiliate. Our job is to continue to stand guard and prevent this.".
