Meiron in the Galilee, the gravesite of the famous Kabbalist and dissident in Roman-occupied Israel, Rabbi Shimon Bar-Yochai. Thousands of people spent the Sabbath in Meiron, and many have been there for up to two weeks, reserving the best spot. The Meron Settlement Committee against the Hailula immigrants: David Klein, chairman of the Meron local community committee, sent a letter to the Director General of the Ministry of Health, Moshe Bar Siman Tov, in which he warns against immigrating to Meron ahead of Lag BaOmer events.

In his letter, he says that "there are already gatherings in the area of the Rashbi's tomb, the number of people who come to Meron is enormous and there is no one to act against it according to the regulations.".

Klein notes that "the population that comes is from the most affected areas in the country. An exclusively Haredi population that does not pay attention to the regulations, and on Lag BaOmer they will pay even less attention.".

He adds: "I did my duty and warned about what could happen here. Because already today many Haredim are wandering around the orchards and looking for alternative ways to get to the moshav.".

The chairman of the committee notes in his letter to the Director General of the Ministry of Health that he contacted Tourism Minister Yariv Levin about a week ago regarding the rental of B&Bs in the town during the week of Lag B'Omer, "and unfortunately I did not receive any response.".

The letter to Levin stated that there are "internal wars between those who wish to rent out their accommodation complexes to outside guests no matter what, and the rest of the residents, including some of the B&B owners.".

He said, "The concern is that if 5,000-7,000 people are accommodated in the B&Bs, this will also form the basis for mass gatherings in the Rashbi's tomb complex and other areas in the town, a situation that will not be controllable and supervised.".
