MK Dr. Shlomo Kari wrote to MK Ofer Shelah, chairman of the Knesset's Corona Committee, requesting a discussion on the police's conduct toward the Haredi sector during the Corona period.

""Since the beginning of the Corona crisis, police officers and policewomen have been doing truly sacred work, hard work that sometimes even takes a toll on their health, and we are supporting their efforts. At the same time, when it comes to police activity in the Haredi sector, there is an extremely difficult feeling that the finger is too light on the trigger, literally.".

He said, "This is a series of police actions that are out of all proportion. Excessive use of force, sometimes even selective enforcement against this sector, a lack of information and clear procedures among the police, and disregard for the lifestyle of this public whose health and safety we are entrusted with.".

Kari added: "The recent examples of the grenade being thrown near the girl Zissi in Mea Shearim, as well as other cases filmed and documented in recent closures about brutal and inappropriate behavior by Israeli police officers, require an investigation and demand. In the case of the girl who was injured, we were close to losing her life and that of another baby who was in the stroller. This is an unacceptable scandal.".

""An immediate inspection and oversight by the Knesset of the police on this issue is needed, so that the guilty are punished and so that these things do not happen again.".
