""Lekel" is the first and exciting single from the second album in the series "Katzela's Sabbath Tunes".
As with the first album, the joyful melodies are performed by the best and greatest of Hasidic music, all of whom have one thing in common: a fondness for the Shabbat melodies of Katzela.
The special melody to the words "Lakel Asher Shabbat from all the deeds" was composed by Katzela on his way to one of the evening prayers. When he returned from the prayer, he hurried to record the melody for documentation, and since then it has been waiting for its turn in the melody drawer.
How does it work?
For nearly forty years, alongside his extensive public activities, Yaakov Katzleh Katz has been devoting himself to his favorite hobby, composing songs. To date, 4 albums have been produced of his songs, many of which have been widely played on the airwaves and have been sung in many communities around the world.
The inspiration for the series "Katzela's Sabbath Tunes" was the desire to give his family a memento of the Sabbath chants that were regularly sung at the Sabbath table in their home. Soon, in the midst of the recordings, the feeling spread that Katzela's unique style of melodies, "the flavor of yesteryear," was a "flavor" that could enrich the Sabbath table of every Jewish home.
The challenge facing arranger and music producer Yuval Stoppel, who arranged the entire album, was great: to compose contemporary music with melodies that still sound like Hasidic songs used to sound.
The longing for perfection is combined with cutting-edge technology, the tenderness and homeliness - do not disappear in the processing and orchestration stage.
Once again, the words of the well-known Shabbat hymns in the new melody were perfectly dressed in the performance of the artist of emotion, the Hasidic singer Avraham Roth.
The choice of Avraham Roth stemmed from the fact that, beyond being a talented singer and a great musician, he is a humble man with a pure character who combines his moving voice with the wonderful melody and lyrics of Shabbat chants.
