The celebration of Lag BaOmer has begun: Starting from the morning hours (Wednesday) until the start of the Lag BaOmer festivities, firefighters are dealing with a large number of calls about bonfires that have been lit and are endangering the environment, mainly in the Haredi city of Modi'in Illit.
According to a statement from the spokesman for the Judea and Samaria District Fire Department, dozens of illegal bonfires are being treated and dismantled by municipal inspectors, in cooperation with the Israel Police.
""The municipality is deploying many resources to restore order, and we will continue to work together into the night," the fire department says.

In Elad, fires got out of control after they were lit in violation of the order of the Fire and Rescue Commissioner on Yehuda Hanasi Street in the Haredi city.
Firefighters evacuated the residents from the scene and worked to extinguish the fires. .
