The Fire Commissioner held a situation assessment this morning (Monday), during which he was presented with data on the unusual weather, wind directions, and the deployment of forces - in preparation for the holiday of Lag BaOmer.
After assessing the situation, the Commissioner signed an order imposing a series of restrictions, including, among other things, limiting the dimensions of the bonfire to a height of one and a half meters and a diameter of up to 3 meters.
The Fire and Rescue Commission emphasizes that the prohibition on lighting a fire in forests and groves also exists in designated places.
In addition, restrictions were imposed to increase the distances between the fires and risk factors such as forests, residential buildings, gas and fuel facilities, and power lines.
""I urge parents and children to adhere to safety guidelines, which include lighting small fires, and staying away from forest and woodland areas and flammable materials that may endanger property and life," the fire commissioner wrote.
Regarding the lighting of bonfires in Meron, special conditions will be determined by the Northern District Commander.
The Fire Commissioner directed the reinforcement of forces, and during the holiday, about a thousand firefighters, fire prevention inspectors, and volunteers went to the field and to the fire centers.
