Mobile phone manufacturer HTC has announced its new flagship device, the One M8. It is one of the most anticipated devices of the year, and the successor to the One announced last year.

The significant upgrade in the device is the camera, an area where this is the second time the company has chosen to go in a completely different direction from all of its competitors: While companies like Nokia, Sony, and Samsung are increasing the quality of their sensors, HTC has been content for the second year with a 5-megapixel sensor with technology called "Ultrapixel.".

That is: a larger sensor with fewer points, allowing for more light absorption and producing higher-quality images. This year, the company added a second eyepiece to the camera, located at the top of the device and allowing for very fast focusing and even focusing after the photo is taken, in order to emphasize the desired part and blur the other parts, closer or farther away.

The company's new device is designed very similarly to its predecessor, from a single piece of aluminum, with stereo speakers located above and below the screen and directed towards the user when watching video.

However, it is slightly larger, and its screen size has increased from 4.7 to 5 inches.

The screen quality is Full HD, with a density of 443 dots per inch. The processor has also been upgraded to the latest generation of Qualcomm quad-core processors at 2.3 GHz.

As befits the selfie era, the front camera has also been upgraded to a 5-megapixel sensor with a wide lens, allowing for selfies without having to stretch your arm. This also allows for video calls where more than one person is in front of the device.

Video recording has also been improved, and now you can shoot videos in slow motion and in high quality.

The device is being launched in the US and is expected to arrive in Israel in about a month.
