
'The Bloomberg Innovation Index for 2019 heralds wonderful news for the Israeli economy: Israel jumped five places in the ranking compared to last year, overtaking Singapore - which is in sixth place, and the United States - which was not even in the top ten last year, and is now in eighth place.
South Korea is in first place, as it was last year. Germany is in second place, Finland is in third, and Switzerland is in fourth. The difference between the results of South Korea and Germany is very small, at about 0.08.
The top ten is rounded out by Japan and France, which are in ninth and tenth place respectively.
China climbed from 19th place to 16th place. For both China and Israel, the main factor that raised the ranking was patent registration.
The index analyzes dozens of criteria using seven indicators, including research and development spending, manufacturing capacity, and concentration of public high-tech companies.
