In preparation for the holiday of Hanukkah, and after six months of intensive animation work, directed by Nadav Nachmani and animator Dana Darnov, artist and creator Amiran Dvir presents the visual version of the song "The Cat and the Mouse" which was released on the album "Ze Zaman".
Amiran Dvir: "Sometimes, in order to understand particularly complex and problematic situations, we need the help of a parable. A pictorial parable that will illustrate and simplify the problem and thus help to understand it in depth.".
Behind the song "The Cat and the Mouse," which at first glance seems to be a catchy and easy-to-see song, lies a deeper message that illustrates the problem of living here alongside our Arab neighbors, whose seemingly weak and vulnerable nature gives them legitimacy to disrupt our daily lives, and for the majority of the world to pity them and hate us.
Most of us are familiar with the situation where sometimes the strong, the one who has the power and means to win, is actually the weakest in his inability to deal with situations that are difficult to resolve due to the weaknesses of the person facing him.
Sometimes it's easier to beat someone strong than to defeat someone weak. Because sometimes weakness leads to overwhelming support and an inability to defeat it by the means possible against a strong and equal opponent. Thus here in the clip, the small and seemingly weak mouse manages to drive the cat crazy and destroy the cat's daily routine despite the power gap between them, which of course helps the mouse in its daily attempt to exhaust the cat.
And I, like all of us, who live this situation day by day and hour by hour, think that all we have left to do is pray to the Creator - that He may protect both sides. True protection, of true peace. As we were promised that it would come as a gift with the coming of the Messiah.
And as I sing at the end of the song: 'Please keep everything here, hold on tight so we don't fall, and don't forget the cat and the mouse.' Dear Father, please make it good for us and for them, so that we can live together in peace.
I really think it's one of the most significant songs I've released, and at the time the album came out we weren't yet ready for all the new media, YouTube, etc., and I felt like I had to expose people to this song in an original way...
"Now that the background of the song is clear, all that remains is to enjoy it.".
