Clashes in Jerusalem: Arabs riot • 35 injured after teenager's funeral

Riots again in Jerusalem:  מאות צעירים ערבים התפרעו היום (שישי) במזרח ירושלים, והתעמתו עם כוחות המשטרה, סביב הלווית הנער הפלסטיני מוחמד אבו-חדיר, שעל פי החשד נחטף ונרצח ביום רביעי האחרון, ומובא לקבורה אחר הצהרים בשועפט. עד כה נפצעו באורח קל בהמלך הארועים  35 בני אדם. העימותים החלו בוואדי ג'וז, כאשר מאות צעירים ערבים יידו אבנים לעבר כוחות הביטחון. המשטרה הדפה את המתפרעים תוך שימוש באמצעים לפיזור הפגנות. At the same time, hundreds of Arabs gathered outside Abu-Khadir's house, carrying Palestinian flags and chanting slogans against Israel following the murder.  The Palestinians were furious that his body was transferred to them late. During the funeral, the sounds of gunfire were heard, apparently from automatic weapons, fired into the air. Fireworks were also fired at the police forces. The tension in Shuafat is palpable in the air, and pictures of the boy Muhammad with the inscription "Muhammad the Martyr" are hanging throughout the village, alongside graffiti calling for the murder of Jews.  In the Old City, dozens attempted to break through a police checkpoint, but were stopped by the forces. In Ras al-Amud, dozens of masked men threw stones at police officers securing the area. Police repelled them using riot control measures, including stun grenades. At the end of prayers on the Temple Mount, masked Arab youths threw stones at police at the Mughrabi Gate. Thousands of police officers from across the country are stepping up security in Jerusalem and securing Friday prayers and the funeral procession. The police estimate that there are plans for serious disturbances after the boy's funeral. מאז הרצח היו מהומות אלימות קשות,  במסגרתם הושחתו גם תחנות של הרכבת הקלה. המצב הביטחוני בירושלים משפיע גם על התנהלות הציבור החרדי: בחסידות גור בוטלה 'שבת נסיעה', עקב המצב הביטחוני המתוח בירושלים. השבת, ז' תמוז, חל יום היארצייט ה-22 של האדמו"ר בעל ה'לב שמחה' מגור זצ"ל, אביו של האדמו"ר הנוכחי. מידי שנה מתקיימת 'שבת נסיעה' , כאשר החסידים מכל רחבי הארץ מגיעים אל חצר גור בירושלים. אלא שהשנה בוטלו התכניות המוקדמות וגבאי ה'שטיבלאך' קיבלו הודעת ביטול. בשל המתיחות גם לא תתקיים השנה העלייה ההמונית לקברו של בעל ה'לב שמחה' זצ"ל, הטמון ב'מערת אדמו"רי גור' בהר הזיתים בירושלים.
