Two days have passed since the bodies of the three martyrs were found - and social media is abuzz: many voices in the public are calling for revenge for their murder.
A group called "The People of Israel Demands Revenge" was set up on Facebook, which garnered more than 30,000 likes in a day. It includes extremist calls for hatred of Arabs, including calls like "Hating Arabs is not racism, it's values!".
Members of the group, including many soldiers, have uploaded hundreds of photos, most of which show people holding up leaflets with the slogan in the page title. The group's creators say their message is not to encourage violence, but so that "someone in the government will see everything that is going on in this group and realize that something needs to be done about it.".
However, many surfers are not content with conveying the message to the government and are calling for civil violence.
Following the storm on social media, an IDF spokesman issued a statement, clarifying that the IDF will not hesitate to punish soldiers who upload images with racist content. "If soldiers are involved in sending racist images and calling for the harming of innocent people, then this is a serious incident that is not in line with what is expected of IDF soldiers, and that any case that is brought to the attention of commanders will be handled with the utmost seriousness,",
A smaller Facebook group that opened the other day, under the name "El Yehud Gang," claims to replace the Price Tag operations: "They are murdering our brothers. They are raping our sisters. We are tired of being silent. The youth of the hills are over. The settlers are over. The Price Tag is over. We are the next name: the El Yehud Gang.".
Within a few hours, the system of the 0404 news website also received pictures of thousands of soldiers, most of them fighters, including calls for revenge, and in some of them even an explicit demand to murder Arabs.
The police announced this evening that "following the publication of serious incitement on social media, including Facebook, which raises suspicions of committing offenses of incitement to violence and incitement to racism, including publications that include calls for harming innocent people, a police investigation will be opened, at the request of the Attorney General and the State Attorney, regarding these suspicions.".
""The head of the Investigations and Intelligence Division at the police, Superintendent Meni Yitzhaki, decided that the investigation will be conducted at the National Cyber Unit at Lahav 433.".
""The prosecutor's office and the police view such incitement in general very seriously, whether it is directed against Jews or against Arabs, and therefore criminal investigations will be opened into this matter.".
