During questions in the Knesset plenum, MK Basel Ghattas from Balad referred to the appearance of Rachel Frankel, the mother of the kidnapped Naftali Frankel, before the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva.
""Yesterday we witnessed a shameful spectacle when the mother of one of the hostages, who was supposed to be in a real and honest emotional turmoil, was exploited by the Israeli Foreign Ministry in a propaganda play.
""The use of real emotion and human tragedy for political gains was proven yesterday in the way most of the council members responded and expressed their opinion opposing the occupation. How does the Foreign Ministry use people's pain for cheap political gains?""
Deputy Foreign Minister Tzachi Hanegbi responded: "It seems strange to me to hear this from an Israeli MK who knows the feelings of the Israeli public towards the noble behavior of the families. Rachel Frankel's performance was worthy of all praise, no matter which party you belong to.".
