Are you tired of cutting vegetables and meat, pouring oil, and sprinkling the right amount of salt and pepper? This information may be for you.
Soon it will be possible to prepare a meal at the touch of a button. There will no longer be a need to cut the ingredients, put them in a pot, season them, cook them, and then wash the dishes. A machine will do all of this for us automatically, according to the nrg website.
The "Chef" is a 3D printer developed at the Hebrew University. You insert a capsule of the raw material along with the specific ingredients of the meal you want to prepare, and the printer automatically cooks, roasts, or bakes the meal and prints it.
The special printer was developed by Professor Oded Shussiev from the Institute of Plant Sciences and Genetics in Agriculture, and Professor Ido Breslavsky from the Institute of Biochemistry, Food Sciences and Nutrition, from the Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Environment of the Hebrew University.
The university said that the invention is actually the raw material – cellulose. According to them, this material is edible and exists in all plants. Today, paper is made from it, among other things, but it can be eaten. On the other hand, it is not digested by the body, so it has no calories, and proteins, carbohydrates or fats can be added to it. It can also be brought to all kinds of textural states: it can be in a hard or gel state. It can be baked, cooked or roasted. There is complete control over the ingredients of the meal, and there is no need for preservatives.
So when can we start using this amazing machine? According to the researchers, the product they developed could be available on the market within two to three years. In the meantime, the "Yishum" company has registered the invention as a patent, and is looking for potential partners who can advance the development to its application phase.
